An existing living space is reinterpreted as three distinct yet connected areas: dining, fireplace and lounge.

The starting point of the design is an existing structural column in the middle of the room. What initially appears as a spatial constraint is transformed through a bespoke metal element into the central focus of the project. From this point, the new organisation of the room and the relationship between its different areas develop.

The fireplace is given its own dedicated sitting area, while a curved wall defines the lounge and gives it a distinct spatial character. Within the open plan, three clearly recognisable places are created without losing the continuity of the overall living space.

Light surfaces, wood, metal and bespoke built-in elements complement the existing materials, bringing old and new together through a calm and coherent architectural language.
